Kyle Bookout isn’t one to sit around dreaming of the possibilities. At the age of 10, Kyle started a fishing rod wrapping business. That spirit of entrepreneurship, along with a strong work ethic and a dedication to excellence, has continued throughout his life. Today, he partners with his wife Shawn as owner of Shady Creek Custom Builders, for over 25 years, they’ve worked hand-in-hand, merging their passions and talents to complement each other’s strengths—with the goal of building exceptional custom homes.
Kyle brings 40 years of experience in the construction industry. A Texan from birth, he grew up hunting and fishing, and eventually turned that love for the outdoors into a profitable business—buying and selling ranches in the DFW and surrounding area. That business became Shady Creek Realty, where he serves as owner and broker.
When Kyle is not working, he loves spending time with his family and friends. Whether it’s fishing, barbequing or managing the land at Shady Creek Farms, he still spends as much time as possible enjoying the wide open spaces of the Texas outdoors.
Shawn Bookout | Owner/Lead Landscape Designer
Shawn spent most of her life surrounded by water and living close to the beach. As such, early on she adopted an appreciation for the tranquility found in nature and the joy of living a simple life. As the co-owner and lead landscape designer of Shady Creek Custom Builders, her goal is to create outdoor spaces that respect the surrounding environment while providing an attractive gathering space for family and friends.
Pursuing a career in Landscape Architecture allowed Shawn to combine her passion for art, gardening and the outdoors. While earning her Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture, her diligence and attention to detail was instrumental in being awarded an ASLA (Association of Student Landscape Architects) Design Competition Scholarship for her master plan design of a 4,000-acre development project. And she brings that same passion, diligence and attention to detail to every project at Shady Creek Custom Builders.
When she’s not working, Shawn enjoys life on Shady Creek Farms—embracing the simple joy that is found in spending time with family and friends. She shares a love of outdoors with husband Kyle, and can often be found fishing and gardening.
